Just googled Westgate Street, it exists but can't find anything for Bridge Inn Yard. Will keep looking. Thanks again this really is proving to be a difficult one |

I'm 90% positive it's Westgate street - however I can't find any website with the history apart from Bell Foundry - which doesn't look like the occupation on the Birth certificate |

Thanks Louise I thought it said Bridge Inn yard but couldn't work out the rest, it really does look like casual labourer now you point it out not sure on the rest though, but I definately agree with some of it. Wish they'd written it so it was more readable. Thanks again for your help it really is appreciated |

From birth certificate - Casual Labourer of Foundling(?) ... Bridge Inn Yard, Westgate(?)Street, Gloucester Marriage - Furnacester perhaps? I'm guessing he worked with Iron, but I'm not sure |

Think I may have found their marriage but he's called William John Davies & it took place in Neath in March 1904. Something else I can go on now. Yippeeeeee |

All I have is mums birth & marriage certificates, haven't found anything else on her parents thats why I was hoping to decipher what his occupation was to decide which Gwilym Davies he was as there are loads. |

Not wishing to influence your decision - but do you have mums marriage cert with his occupation on? Or his marriage cert come to that? To send it you would need a scanner then attach or send that as an email - you can ask someone their email address by using the personal message system. (that is, click on their name!) |

Hi all I need help in trying to read an occupation on my mums birth certificate, the writing is very dark & quite close together. I've tried using a magnifying glass but it only shows possibilities for what it says. |
