Hi Maggy Thanks for your help. I can't really pin her down on the 1841 census which would be the only one where she wasn't married to William, so I haven't been able to find any siblings. Although it isn't a really common name there are enough of them out there to make it hard to pin her down. Wretched woman!! But I will not give up on her...today I found the death of someone I had searched for for some time and I KNOW it wasn't there before! LOL..

Merry I have just gone to the site and downloaded the will you found, so I will maybe find out if he left all his fortune to Sarah Edwards, her husband William and his wife LOL. I will let you know when I have read it!!!

Maggie, did she have any younger brothers or sisters? If you can find any on census records or IGI you could send for their certificates instead. My great great grandad was born in 1836 but on the 1841 census he had a sister 14 days old. I found the certificate which gave my his parents and mothers maiden name. The date of birth matched with her being 14 days old on the census.

It would have been nice if James had waited around a couple of decades and then left his money to Mrs Edwards! Merry

That is very interesting. On the IGI it does say father is James and mother Elizabeth Bridget and I found their marriage at All Hallows Wall in 1818 and Elizabeth's last name was Roberts. Where did you find that info by the way? WHOOPS, just saw where you say where. Thanks. The only think I find interesting is that none of her children were named James and she had a number of them with names passed on through the family. But then again maybe her husband wouldn't 'let' her until they had used up all the Edwards' traditional names(??) LOL

Hi Merry Thanks for your reply. She married William Edwards bc1822 St. Lukes (I have this from the birth cert of one of her children) and I sent for a couple of marriage certs where she was a possible (there were missing women on the list with William) but no go. I think I found her on the 1841 as a servant (it said b.1826) living at 7 Beaumont St. Marylebone, but I really don't know if that is her. There was another but it said b.1818 and I think that was far too early.

I have found what might be the elusive Sarah Spence on Hugh Wallis, birth and baptism, with father and mother's Christian names. Can't find it on Palletts at all. Since the year is 1832 and there would be no cert. to send for is there any other way I could find out if this is MY Sarah Spence? I have found nothing else anywhere near the right date (on the censuses she is usually shown as b.1828) but it is the right place (Finsbury) and the only person of this name that comes anywhere near. I haven't been able to find her marriage even with lots of help from kind people on the boards. Will I ever know who her parents really were? Any help gratefully received. VERY gratefully.
