A relation Richard Hogg was school master at this school on the 1881 census but I don't know what happened to him. I cannot find details of school and trying to find out when he retired to maybe help with a death date as I cannot find him on Scotland's People. Any idea where I can find school details.

Well a google search springs to mind - or the local records office may have some info.

Heather Tried Google no good !!!! I am really finding it hard to locate this school. I contacted the local school in Kirkhope, but that was no good. I have asked them who I could contact about information, but it has been a few weeks, so I think I am out of luck. Isobel

Isobel - try emailing the nearest public library. Even if they can't help (may just be a small branch) I feel sure they will pass you on to their local studies librarian - usually a mine of information. Try:http://www.scotborders.gov.uk*libraries* (replace * with /) Good luck Jacquie

When I had a similar problem the school didnt come up in a google search so I emailed the local records office. They sent me the Inspectors report for 1890 - so kind of them. Good luck
