Thanks everyone.... I have tried everything I can think of. Her father was William Johnson with the occupation of Coach Maker (not shown as deceased in 1850) xx

There is a Lucy Smith 1829 living St Martin in the Fields.. living Whitehart Court. Richard head is in the army. There are a family of Johnson also living Whitehart Court. Is it possible Lucys mother remarried and Lucy took the name Johnson and Lucy started using the name. Do you have her wedding cert with her fathers name and occupation? Margaret

Try looking for her by first name only. Also look for other members of her family by first name. Rose

Smith being a surname also try dropping the Johnson and just looking for Smith

Spelling wasn't a high point for those recording names in years gone by and variations of names occurred with another letter being added. For example the name Johnson may have been recorded in any of these ways - 'Johnsone', 'Johnston', 'Jonson'. Old records of my family name include 'e' and 's' Good hunting John

I have a family who are elusive in 1841 and I am trying to search out all possible spelling variations..... The main lady i am searching is LUCY SMITH JOHNSON and I have her baptism in 1831 in St Martin's in the Field, London and everything after her marriage in 1850.... so can you suggest what JOHNSON maybe transcribed as or spelt?
