Glad to help, but read my reply again as I have amended a few details since I posted it as they referred specifically to the gedcom, I sent to my friend. If you hit any snags just send me a private message and I will help you out. Linda

The first thing you have to do is to save the file on your email to your computer, the desktop or wherever you want ,then Open Legacy and On the tool bar right at the top, choose File, left click on this · Scroll down to Import from – Gedcom File, click on this I assume the Genes file is a gedcom, if not choose the correct one from the list · A window opens which says import Gedcom on the top, find where you saved the Gedcom to. Then click on it so its name comes in the bottom bar, click open o As it is the first time you have added something to Legacy, this bit may not be quite the same. A window may open which says , the current family file contains existing records. It gives you two options. Create a new family file, or add to existing file. You always choose the create a new family file option. As it is your first time, you may get something a bit different, it will probably just say create a family file. o A box opens which lets you change the file name if you want to. It is currently ??? ?.ged. (I don't know what yours will say)Click open o A gedcom import window appears, the blue line moves across the bottom, when it has done so you need to click on Start the import, just above the blue line o If an auto source window appears, choose don’t assign a source o When the import finishes click Ok The family file should open, but it seems to open just on a random person, Look on the big tool bar on the top of the page, the one with the big blue arrows on it. The third symbol along says name list. Choose this and find yourself. Highlight your name and click select from the top right. It will then go to you. To make sure that it always opens at your name. choose Options from the very top line, go to where it says set preferred start up family, and click on set current family as start up. I did this for a friend, it is simple, so I hope it helps, Linda
