Wow Ozibird you really have done some research & this has helped me enormously, I can't tell you how much I appreciate the time you must have spent on this. If it wasn't for the tips boards I would be at a complete standstill on my tree now, everyones so willing to help. Researching your ancestors is so addictive but at the same time frustrating, but thanks to everyone on here, special thanks to those that went out of their way, I & others that have had tips & look ups done can now move a bit further on. You're all brilliant Thanks again |

There is a marriage in Gloster (thats how it's spelt) Jun qtr 1850, Mary Ann Beddall. She may have been born in Dover but she could have been in service in Gloucester, which will be how she came to meet Thomas. I haven't checked in on Ancestry though |

There is this Kent Local BMD site: http://extranet3.kent.gov.uk/sp/rois/home.html It's on the list on www.ukbmd.org.uk But I couldn't find your marriage for you without doing a lot of trawling - and it may not be there yet. Medway CityArk http://cityark.medway.gov.uk/ may be useful (see the ImageBase link in the left hand menu) but you have to be determined and systematic to find what you want there! Christine |

Perhaps they didn't marry in Dover: Marriages Jun 1858 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Boswell William Medway 2a 443 Newman Thomas Medway 2a 443 Row Frances Medway 2a 443 Ruck Elizabeth Ann Medway 2a 443 Shel[hp]ard Mary Ann Medway 2a 443 Anyway, ordering a birth cert will solve this one. Hi I've trawled through as many records as I can looking for Mary Ann b 1839 in Dover Kent married to Thomas Newman b 1832 in Red Marley Gloucester. Also Ann b 1876 Bromsberrow Gloucester married to Samuel Newman b 1785 in Quinel Worcester. I can't find anything for either wife. Could this be yet another member of my family that was known by a middle name but called something else. Arrrrrrrrrrrghhhhhhh its really frustrating at times, I can see me going grey very soon at this rate |
