Hi Kate He never filled anything in himself,it was all based on what my b/m told the court and SS.He had already done a bunk by then. The paperwork had to be completed twice and the description of him changes, brown hair one minute, black the next! That's my problem so many second hand part truths/rumours and maybes. Right, i'll order this Lincoln one with a ref check,if just to eliminate it.Unless anyone suggests otherwise. Thanks Glen |

Somebody could easily be 43 in 1967 and have been born in 1923, if their birthday was after the date when the form was filled in (for example, if the form was filled in in March and their birthday was in April). So it could well be the 1923 birth. Kate. |

Hi folks Thanks for the replies That was my initial thought,i was just a bit worried that there might be more than one match with the father as a reference check. If it is the Lincoln birth then at least Lincoln RO will perform the check without additional cost. Just wonder how many James Townsends had a father called Jim/James too! Glen |

HI Glen AS you have already told me that his father is named on the marriage cert then I would use that as your safety net if ordering the birth cert. So basically ask for it but say fathers name is ??? Then if it matches BINGO if not you coudl try the smae with the other dates Wendy Wendy |

I'm trying to get a birth cert for my b/f 1945 Wedding cert shows age as 22 (so born 1923) My adoption file quotes age of 43 in 1967 (so 1924) Another GR tree has him born Lincoln approx 1924. There is a 1923 Lincoln birth ref,it's the only one in Lincolnshire from 1922 to 1925. Is it worth a stab? The marriage cert quotes the grooms fathers name, and the residence at the time is Lincoln, but the marriage was in Middlesboro, but i'm not convinced that Lincoln is the right place for his birth. What do you think? Thanks Glen |
