Hello All, I have an ancest who died in 1836 aged 50 according to the parish records. This would mean he was born in 1786. He maaried in a different parish in 1814 but I cannot find his baptism in 1786 or just after. However, I have found a baptism in 1784 which would fit. Does this means that his age when died is likely to be incorrect? Advice please, Gillian

hiya, the person giving the info on death might have only guessed at his age, alot of people didnt know exactly when they were born, and alot of P/R's dont even have actual DOB, just date of bapt HTH Julie

I have a few that have incorrect ages on, but its definately them. They could have got the age wrong.

Thanks Julie & Willow. As I don't know where he was baptised it make it more difficult to pipoint. I suppose his widow didn't know in exactly which year her poor husband was born. G

The ages to be most suspicious are those that end in a 0. This usually means that nobody quite knew. But even the most accurate looking of ages can be wrong.
