Glen In Tinsel Knickers Report 18 Jul 2006 19:29

Lincolnshire is a big county, and has borders with several others. I might be telling you something you already know but the neighbouring counties include Cambridgeshire,Nottinghamshire,South Yorkshire as well as the Ridings. Lincolnshire Registration services have sent me marriage certs without the church, but i could tell them it was a Lincoln marriage. Usually they would look +/- 1 year of the year you quote, with the district (eg Gainsborough,Lincoln, louth) etc,but i doubt they could check anything without you being able to narrow it down a little. Hi Helen i haven't found any sort of matches or near matches. I have tried both names. Myra was born in Cornwall so i thought that it could be where they went to get married but having no such luck. Just wondering if i could drop it in a conversation with her without getting shouted at again. Thanks Jen

NEVER ASSUME what you are told is correct. I was told that my grandads sister married in Burton on Trent. I found her marriage in Colwyn Bay in North Wales. Margaret

The GRO indexes are compiled from records sent from the local register office, so its possible a copy of a cert got lost en route. Alternatively, they may have married over the Lincolnshire border, or within a different time frame, or with different names from the ones you are trying. Have you found any near matches?

Yet again i am struggling with my Vincent side of the tree. I know that Myra Vincent/Curtis married Maurice Whitehead. All the family are sure that they married in Lincolnshire but nobody knows when. I have checked the BMD between 1942 and 1953 is there any chance that it could of been missed out. Many thanks Jen
