Managing access to your tree and contacts.

Chris, My problem is the other way around. I rarely give access to my tree - I DO share all my information, but prefer to send them all I have by e-mail. However, others seem to give access 'at the drop of a hat', so I have literally hundreds of trees available to me, most of them I have no connection with. I too would like to cut down on these as it makes it difficult when I want to go to look at one with which I have a connection. It is useful to keep these people as contacts as when you look at matches etc., it tells you you have already been in touch. The only way I can see, when I get around to it, is to e-mail each one and ask them to close their tree to me. I am not sure though that I will ever get around to it. Dea Xxx

For reasons I won't bore you with I have decided to 'cull' my contacts.....That is the people who have access to my tree either here or elsewhere since I started my tree three years ago. I have sent 67 messages/e.mails apologising for 'round robin' tone of it but stating I would be removing access/changing passwords ect by a certain date and would they let me know if they still wanted access. Two and a half weeks down the line with one and a half to go to 'D' Day I have had seven responses....Three being contacts made in the last couple of months. Could explain why, when you make a contact.....THEY DONT!!!! Chris
