I don't think it is necesarily short for anything. If you search the birth index on ancestry there are thousands of them. Rob |

I had a look in a baby names book and found Minnie Pet form of WILHELMINA Kate :)) |

It could very well have been a name in its own right. I have a Nanny in my tree and was convinced that was a pet name, but nope Nanny it was. Minnie is also a derivative of Philomena, Minna, Minerva, Miriam (Mary) and Wilhelmina though. Happy hunting, Bex x |

Loo, I had a minnie who turned out to be Ellen. Her mother was the same name and I wonder if it is a pet name (an old time mini-me!) if the mum has same name as daughter. |
