JOSEPH HARPER BORN 3RD QTR 1913 SALFORD. I KNOW HE DIED AFTER MAY 1916 DUE TO HIM BEING TAKEN TO LIVE AT CHEETHAMS HOSPITAL POOR SCHOOL FOR BOYS. I BELIEVE HE WAS FIVE YEARS OLD SO THAT WOULD MAKE IT 1918. I HAVE SEARCHED THE RECORDS AND CANNOT FIND HIS DEATH REGISTERED. I WOULD DOUBT WHETHER HIS MOTHER HAD THE MONEY TO BURY HIM SO WOULD THAT MAKE A DIFFERENCE. ALSO BELIEVE MY GRANDMOTHER HIS MOTHER DID FOLLOW A LESS COMMON RELIGION BUT NOT SURE WHAT CHURCH IT WAS AS JUST WONDERED IF THIS COULD BE A FACTOR. YOUR HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED. THANKS CINDI |

Poverty or religion shouldnt make any difference - he should still be registered - its a legal requirement. Where have you looked so far - on the ancestry bmd index images? Not just the name search for freebmd? Where is Cheetham - is that where the poor little devil died? |

Hi Heather AS FAR AS I KNOW HE DIED IN A HOSPITAL HAVING BEEN TAKEN THERE BY THE SCHOOL. MY FATHER WHO WAS EIGHT ALSO HAD TO LEAVE HIS HOME AND GO TO THIS SCHOOL AND HE TOLD ME THAT HIS LITTLE BROTHER DIED OF A BROKEN HEART AS HE WOULD NOT STOP CRYING. AS REG SAID THE SCHOOL IS IN MANCHESTER. I HAVE SEARCHED THE 1837ONLINE REGISTERS AND ALSO TRIED ANCESTRY BMD AND GOT NOTHING. THE RELIGION WAS JUST A THOUGHT AS TO PERHAPS MAKING A DIFFERENCE. THANKS CINDI |
