According to 1837online there was a George Owens on the Peninsula Medal Roll. The war took place from 1793-1814. Could be him: www(.)1837online(.)com Then 'search military records' then 'Other army lists' George

That just it Guin They seem to be a very well, settled family...with no trace of him being buried anywhere else.. Wife was re married in Church by Licence and it has widow on the licence.. All of the baptism's for his children are all listed as children of .....Mr George Owens.. Which is the only entries in the parish registers which have the word Mr prefixed.. every other baptism is just son of Joe Bloggs but not Mr Joe Bloggs...

Hi, He may have run off with another woman and changed his name .......... Then his wife declared herself a widow. Or he could be in an asylum. Gwynne

Few possibles: - 1. In the army (Napoleonic Wars) and died there. 2. Was a seaman or fisherman and died at sea. 3. Was transported to Australia for a crime. 4. Was excecuted for a crim -wouldn;t be in the church burial ground. Sorry if these sound a bit far fretched but anything can happen!

I have one death in a family line.. that I cannot find.. it is pre 1837.. so that is of no use.. His name George Owens / Owen / Owins / Owence.. He was born 1764 at Barnard Castle at Durham.... His last known child was born in 1797... His wife remarries in 1811...no problem I have both of their Deaths and burial record...for this second marriage.. I have scoured the parish records...all neighbouring parish's Even had a thought he might have been taken back to a family plot at Barnard Castle... no nothing.. Anyone any idea's Mo
