Why cant I find him on 1881 census?

Normally the Burwash's are very easy to find but cannot find David Thomas on the 1881, census born 1849 Clerkenwell, any suggestions. He is on the 1891 and 1901 with his wife Harriet and also found him before he was married with his parents. (He married in 1876) All help will be gratefully accepted Gwen |

Gwen - a tip for the future - I found him by searching with his first name, his year of birth +/- 2 years and his place of birth. I didn´t put his surname in the search. |
