thanks Jess, Nell and elaine. I've already trailed through Crook, round Hope Street and White Lee where they were living but no luck, that's why I wondered if any pages may be missing. thanks again anyway...they must have dropped down a mine shaft....lol jean |

With my g grandfather called Laidler, you'd think it would be easy..... I was just thinking they may have gone to USA, mining for a few years, as my first Milburn family went to La Salle but they had two children over there, so it was easy to know where they'd been in 1871/75. I don't know with this family. Jean |

You could try the hard slog and go through every page of the relevant enumeration district: http://content.ancestry*co.uk/Browse/list.aspx?dbid=7619&path=Durham.Crook and http://content.ancestry*co.uk/Browse/list.aspx?dbid=7619&path=Durham.Crook+with+Billy+Row |

Does anyone know if any of the indexes are missing for Crook, Co Durham. 1871. I have a family living in Crook in 1861 and 1881 with children born up to 1867 then after 1875 in Crook. After trailing right through the Crook indexes, I don't think they are there in 1871 I have searched all England just putting their first names and date of birth in case the names were mistranscribed but no luck. Any ideas where to look for a whole family please? Jean. |
