Having been searching for my family for a few months now, and i must add with a lot of help from kind people on these boards. I was just getting the hang of things!! My aunty, 2 second couisons had all told me my Great grandfather was called James Henry Wooder born 1879, wife Ada Henretta Rose. I have got back to around 1780, my nans birth certificate arrived (James Henry's daughter) Father being Henry James Wooder!!! mother was right name as i had been given. So i ordered marriage certificate of Henry Wooder and Ada Henrietta Rose 1901, now im thinking its the wrong marriage as i know the last child was born in 1927, there was 14 children born to them. I do know people are called by there middle name but the family i have followed had a son called Henry and James so why call 2 James!! A lesson to be learnt dont listen to your family!!! Loren. |

On the Freebmd bit of Ancestry, it appears there's only one: You searched for Ada Henrietta Rose Refine your search indicates Subscription required Sign Up! Search Results Birth, Marriage, & Death Records 2 England & Wales, FreeBMD Birth Index: 1837-1983 1 England & Wales, FreeBMD Marriage Index: 1837-1983 1 So I guess she must be yours. I am not sure I understand from your thread why you are discounting her??? nell |

It's late here, and perhaps I'm not following you correctly, but are you concerned because there are two children named James? If so, don't worry about it. When names were handed down in families, some families chose to give two (or even three!) children the same name -- in case one died, the name would still be carried on. |

Loren, Lisa J is absolutely right and I could give you several such examples from my own family tree. |

Don't worry about multiple children with the same first name. I have a family with three Mary Catherines, differentiated only by their third name. |

Loren, if what is worrying you is that the last child would have been born 26 years after the marriage, then don't worry, because it looks as if Ada was only 17 or 18 when she got married, so she would have been in her mid-forties (or what I like to think of as 'early forties') when that last child was born. Certainly not impossible! Kate. |
