Did people really call their child Young? I have my relies in the 1881 census and one of the children is down as Young Sunderland aged 16. Dad is called John and I thought it might mean Junior, but he already has a son called John. im very confused - it must be nearly lunch time!

Perhaps Young was a maiden name of a grandmother or something like that? Anne

could this be the one? Young Sunderland Year of Registration: 1864 Quarter of Registration: Apr-May-Jun District: Todmorden County: Lancashire, Yorkshire - West Riding, West Yorkshire Volume: 9a Page: 210 looking through the free BMD it would seem that the name Young was not that incommon.
