Good morning everyone Have been looking for months for a PR for the baptism or birth of Jonathan Pinchback (abt 1808 - census goes from Middlesex to Whitechapel to Bethnal Green as POB) and George Pinchback (abt 1793 - census goes from Middlesex to Bethnal Green as POB). I am sure these two are related, both Tailors and living at one point in the same Whitechapel Street. It's possible their parents hail from Bedworth in Warwickshire. I would be so grateful if someone could tell me where to look from here........Thank you |

I should imagine the baptisms for these chaps would be at the London Metropolitan Archives. The Parish Registers for London are kept there. The area would come under Tower Hamlets. Cheers, Horatia |

Thanks for that Horatia, because I find absolutely nothing on the Family Search site. BTW, I have an ancestor who served with you at Trafalgar |

Thank you for the links Ann, I will go take a look. I am really interested in the background stuff - someone I spoke with in Bedworth said the Pinchback's were probably Huegenots (sic)! Mind you he also said that none of the Bedworth Pinchback's ever left the area.........not so. Thanks again, Jeanne |

Hi Jim Yeah, thats the Bedworth family. Joseph Pinchback married Elizabeth Hammersley there in 1792, had Joseph in 1793 and Benjamin in 1794 - they then turn up in the East End of London where they have a daughter called Mary. George Pinchback has a Mary Pinchback as a witness at his wedding and Jonathan also has a Mary Pinchback as a witness to his wedding in 1830 at St Kath Cree. Would like to find a link between them, but can't find any births relating to George or Jonathan anywhere. Jeanne |

Jeanne, Don't know how near or far you live to LMA (London Metropolitan Archives) but if you could get yourself along there the baptisms will tell you the parents names which should answer your query. However, you might have to look through a lot of baptisms. I'm glad you have someone related to my father! Proud of my Norfolk Roots I am!!! BTW - I see no ships and neither did Dad! ;-) |
