On the 1901 census I have Edward and Louisa VARO with 2 sons, Frank and Fred. I have also found birth and death records for a Lizzie Varo in 1899. I am trying to find info on Fred but can't find any birth records for him in 1898-1900. However, I have found 2 sets of birth records for a Frank Varo in 1898 and 1900. Any ideas where Fred came from very welcome! |

Well, Fred's age on the census matches perfectly with the second Frank birth reg! If it was me and I wanted to confirm, I would order the cert with a checking point, so they will refund £4 if it's someone elses child. In case it IS someone elses.....you could check the death records for the second Frank and also check the 1901 for a Frank in another family, born 1900.....but I bet it's him!!! Maybe the dad registered the birth and popped to the pub on the way?? My grandfather did that, and by the time he got to the registrars all he could remember was that his wife had suggested their new baby daughter be named after the month she was born.....granddad couldn't remember the second name suggested..........................So.........he said ''May Florence'' to the registrar. Unfortunately the baby was born in June and Florence....his wife's name....was a name his wife hated so much she was never called it!!!! He was in the dog house with a hangover when he got home! A friend of my mother's managed to get her name mangled when being registered (so she claimed). When the registrar asked for the child's name, the parent replied 'we'll 'ave 'er 'Ilda'. So Avarilda went in the birth register. |

My late mother refused to have a copy of her birth cert because it shows her grandfather as being her father LOL. Her mother registered the birth and when the Registrar said 'name of father' she thought he meant HER father's name . OC |

I have some most inconsiderate ancestors who gave all their daughters the first name Mary and at least 2 of them the second name Catherine. So the 3rd. name that differentiates them ends up in most indexes and censuses as just an initial. My grandfather (let's call him Henry Joseph) was born about 6 months before his elder brother (Henry William) died aged 3. So several people who have my grandfather as a twig on their tree have him with the dead sibling's d.o.b. |
