Along the same lines: Parish registers of St Peter, Saffron Hill.... Name of person baptized ******** parents unknown.... of African descent... servant to ******* believed aged 14 years. Same Vicar later in the registers baptizes two children of John Driscoll and makes the following notes:- Father bought up in the Roman Catholic faith. Entered into the Church of England this evening in front of a large congregation by me. What a gem to find if John Driscoll belonged to you. Jean x. |

Wouldn't it be nice if he sat there and thought to himself that in 100 years or so time, someone will be looking at this certificate and be wanting all the details. |

Well done Mr Curtis - wish they'd all been trained to his exacting standards, or perhaps he was just nosy! (Suspect it was a bit like the Dade registers and he soon got fed up of the extra writng and didn't carry it on!) Jay |

To Mr Joseph Curtis, registrar for Camden Town on November 17th 1841 Not sure if it was your first day or not - or you were incredibly over-efficient, but I'd just like to thank you for the following on my 4- great grandmothers death certificate..... 12th November 1841 at NOON Maria Silvia Raimonda Gida Anna NOEL ****aged 53 years, 2 months and 11 days**** and spookily, if my calculations are correct this makes her my 2nd direct line ancestor to share exactly the same birthday as me (1st September) |
