Sorry - should have said - PAF stands for Personal Ancestral File (just in case you can´t see it on the LDS site!!)

You can only open the file if you have a family tree software programme on your computer, such as Family Tree Maker. There are a couple of free ones that you can download from the internet, one is PAF which you get from the Church of Latter Day Saints site www.familysearch(.)org and the other one is called Legacy - don´t know the site but if you google it am sure it will come up. I have just exported my GR tree as a Gedom file. Is there any way I can open the e-mail attachment and save on my hard drive? My PC says I don't have an application associated with the file. Also what are the advantages of uploading the Gedcom file to GR?- I have read of some members having problems with it Joan
