Linda I have Nancy in my tree who at varying times throughout the census changed from Nancy to Ann to Annie to Agnes to Nanny and probably another few I haven't found out about yet!! Snowdrops

Nancy is short for Ann or can be a name in its own right, could also be short for Hannah. Caroline

In my family the name Annice was shortened to Nancy

i wonder if anyone can tell me what the name nancy is short for or is it a name in its own right. i am looking for the marriage of james ainscough to a nancy ? circa 1855 in either the leigh/wigan lancashire area or in durham ? thanks linda x x
