Well done Janice ! I've tried to find Laura's father with his parents before his marriage to Eliza, but no luck so far. I thought we could perhaps trace her cousins or aunts on someone's tree. Have you found Walker matches? I don't know the area well enough to make possible links Gwyn . |

nudge for evening shift Gwyn, If the Huddersfield marriage is correct, she married Joel Bennett or James William Walker. Janice |

Janice I too checked the census, hoping to find Laura's married name. I don't know Yorkshire but I understand that Slaithwaite comes under Huddersfield R.D. so that made me wonder if this could be her marriage. I was hoping to find some children with mother's maiden name Auty after cross matching names on freebmd, but it's on a' Go slow' for me. Gwyn |

In 1891 James and Eliza are living in Slaithwaite and now have Laura, Ernest and Arthur. Laura is still single and at home in 1901 so that could be her marriage. |

There may be a link for the people on GR who are researching AUTY b. Halifax. There is someone with an Auty birth in late 1860s so maybe Laura links to his family. Gwyn |

Gwyn, it probably is her. There's a birth in 1875 on FreeBMD registered in Halifax. None of the Laura Autys in Quick Search are the right date. Janice |

Does anyone have a Laura Auty born 1875? A friend has a small section of sampler which she found in a shop in Grassington. It was done by Laura Auty aged 10 in 1885. I have a scan of it if anyone is interested. Janice |
