help needed please for someone new to family tree.

I am helping a friend to do her family tree and can anyone help on the following please:--- Emily Johnson married to Timothy Johnson.... we believe that her maiden name was Townley or Morton they lived in the Farnworth area of Bolton and what we need to know is any information on either of these 2 people please. Any dates of birth for either of the 2 named above. This is all the info that my friend has .... Many thanks |

Possibly in the 1870/80's all we know is that one of their children Frank Johnson died in 1989 aged 87 years. Can you help on this now? |

There are a couple of death registrations which would fit: - Name: Frank Johnson Birth Date: 28 Jul 1902 Death Registration Month/Year: Dec 1989 Age at death (estimated): 87 Registration District: Bolton Inferred County: Lancashire, Lincolnshire Volume: 38 Page: 414 and Name: Frank Johnson Birth Date: 29 Apr 1902 Death Registration Month/Year: Dec 1989 Age at death (estimated): 87 Registration District: Penzance Inferred County: Cornwall Volume: 21 Page: 394 If your friend knows which one is hers, you will be able to find the birth cert and then you will find the parents names. |

Dates of birth will be on the respective birth certificates. A marriage cert would (hopefully) give the ages fairly accurately,but possibly the certificate might just say 'full age' or 'over 21'.At least it would narrow down the search for their births. Without a timeframe to work with it's far harder to try and find any references. Glen |

This looks like the birth cert for the first one (bolton as you said) If you got this, it would confirm the parents names and give you a clue as to where to look in 1901: - Name: Frank Johnson Year of Registration: 1902 Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep District: Bolton County: Lancashire Volume: 8c Page: 394 (click to see others on page) |
