I have often been searching Familysearch and have found the info I am looking for. i have taken the ref. details and then looked at Ancestry to double check, but the reference details are different. Right, so I can go ahead and order my certs, but....sometimes I can find it on Familysearch but not on Ancestry, how do I order certs using these references????? Kathlyn

Kathlyn Family Search references are for LDS use only and wont be any use when ordering certs. You say you cant find the corresponding details in the GRO. If the Familysearch info states a Church, then you can get a copy of the marriage cert from whoever holds the records - generally County Records Office and it will only cost pence, not pounds. Are you sure you are looking at an extracted record, and not a submitted one? If its submitted, it could be just a wild guess. OC

Hi OC, I think I will have to pay more attention to how the detail was submitted but becasue I have found a 'hit', all the other thoughts go out of the window. I have now got to the parish record stages of my research and have so far had exceptional help from the Bedfordshire office. I had a marriage and 4 baptisms found by them and becasue the copy taken from the microfilm was poor, they took a double A4, not sure of the code for that size paper, size copy of all the records for me and only charged me £5. More than a bargain don`t you think??? Kathlyn

Ancestry have births, marriages and deaths. Familysearch is primarily parish registers - so baptisms (which may include birthdates), marriages and the odd burial. Civil registration only started 1st July 1837 so before that there are only parish registers. after that date, if you know which parish, the register entries can be had for a small sum. But if you don't know which parish, its best to get the GRO cert. nell
