I recently found someone doing a one name study on one of my family lines, she initially contacted me through this site, then I found her site. I have found loads of information from her site and it has led me to look at different avenues, including finding Waterman Apprenticeships, ( with a little help that I picked up from Heather). I felt it would be nice to give her a bit of information on my line, that she didn't already have, and the other day she replied. She mentioned that it was interesting to note that my greatgrandfather, William Clarke was living with a family called Brown, which was the maiden name of his future wife's mother. When I looked further, it turned out that he was living with her aunt and when I looked even further, I discovered that his brother Charles had married the daughter of the famliy and so they had married cousins. I also found out lots of names and dates for the Brown family that I didn't already have. So my Tip ( as i know this board is just for tips! lol) is that its always worth checking one name studies, coz you never know what you might learn!! Lynn (very happy!)

I agree. Proper one name studies are great! My husbands EAST family were much easier to research with the help of their society. They have lots of extra information and have also transcribed all the GRO indexes pertaining to Easts making it much easier to find them and connect them. Anne
