I have a birth cert for Peter Lennon 1866 Liverpool, his father is Thomas Lennon a Stevedore. The same is also stated on Peter's marriage to Mary Roberts in 1890. Peter and Mary are on the census for Liverpool in 1891- RG12 2901 Folio 31 Page 11. I have been unable to trace Peter on any census before this. I have Peter's mother as Mary Devit- After searching long and hard for a marriage of Thomas Lennon to Mary Devit- I found a marriage in 1846 for Thomas LEMON to Mary Devitt- I sent for certificate with a checking point that grooms name should probably be Lennon not Lemon as transcribed in the indexes- However I have received the cert anyway in name of Lemon and it has Thomas as a Labourer, which I suppose is somewhat similar an occupation to Stevedore. Thomas has not signed cert, just a 'x' for his mark. Thomas' father on cert is John Lemon a Cabinet maker. I decided to search the census records for possible in both names or something similar such as Lennan, Lenin , Leman, but I'm going round in circles. If someone could look at this for me I would be really, really greatful. Thanks Simone

On the marriage for Peter Lennon and Mary Roberts in 1890- witnesse are George McVey and Bridget Cummins- I believe I have found George in Liverpool, a Stevedore, like Peter's father Thomas, but no clue as to whether he is related. His wife is Ellen. The witnesses on marriage Thomas Lemon to Mary Devitt in 1846 are John Brady and Mary McCarty. I can't find this Thomas and Mary in 1851 Liverpool unless I am missing it somewhere. Thanks Simone x
