Hi Helen, Are you a relative of the adopted person? If so, you may be able to apply for more details about the adoption, but you have to follow the correct protocol. The GRO website gives more information about what to do - go to http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/adoptions/accesstoadoptionrecordsforbirthrelatives/ for more information. Liz

Hi, I'm having the same problem trying to locate my cousin who was adopted in 1970. I know his birth name, his date of birth and obviously his mothers name and I have his birth certificate but I can't seem to get any further. Good luck with your search and let us know how you get on. Jayne x

Desperately difficult Helen - is it a relative, if you know some names and dates you can post them on one of the special adoption threads on here Adoptees Who Can be Open etc. But keep off surnames as living people will obviously be involved. Other adoptee posters are sure to add to this and help if they can. Eileen

Hi where can I go to find out someone who was Adopted somewhere in the Russell Sq area, in or around 1946/7 have hit a brick wall don't know new adoptive name only birth name. mant thanks Helen.
