I've found family members often congregated in another area, probably to find work where they already know someone. My gt grandfather Thomas and 3 of his brothers all moved from a tiny Warwickshire village to live in London, and all were involved in dairying. Thomas' wife Emma (she whose 2nd marriage I can't find) was born in Cambridge but married Thomas in London. 3 of her sisters lived at various times in Holloway near her and all their husbands (and her 2nd one, if they WERE married) were working for the railways. nell

Thankyou Helen I meant family relatives above by the way. I was hoping to find this marriage to prove his father. After doing the excersise with the census we talked about before. I have concluded that whilst he says Pinner on the later censuses he in fact comes from Studham/ Markyate /Caddington area Beds/Herts depending which year you look at. Having tracked all the Charles born c 1834 He is the only one who radically changes his place of birth, the names of the rest of the family run back. The of the numerous step brothers and sisters and direct brothers, the majority appear to end up in Luton close to him. Co-incidence? a healing of a family rift? who knows. I just wish I could be 100% by finding Dad. Ah well time for bed. Thankyou again.

Just thought he may have used an alias. Like I said a long shot. But it's the closest I can find. It will be just my luck as I have said before that they never actually married.

and if you don't know the surname of the other partner and the marriage is between 1866 and 1911 you can get the last name from family relatives. It will cost 40p (max). Merry

If there are only 3 names on the page one marital partner is missing. You can't assume that the Smith is an alias. Unless the first name of your ancestor is extremely unusual, you'll need to find the other partner. You can look on the complete images free if you know what the surname is. nell

Hi Helen, I 'm not hence the question, butttttt, the time frame, place and one of the females on the page is correct, unfortunately it is one of those with two females and one male!!!! on the page. The males forename is correct.

Has anyone ever come across a rellie using a common surname i.e Smith instead of their own when marrying??? Grateful for thoughts on this please.
