Correct spellings of place names around Luton: Pepperstock, Kinsbourne Green, Ramridge. Can't think of any coal (or other) mines anywhere in the area. Main industry was hats.

There is another reason why they could be missing. It could be that the pages they were on have gone missing or destroyed at some point over the years. I have a family living at the same address from at least 1871 but iam unable to find them on the 1881census and its the only one I dont have for them. But if there is some one who is very good and finds them somewhere the head of household is Henry Lockington born c1816 and his occupation is Retired Soldier (1871 and 1891 census) living at Ponsonby Place Westminster

I've got them in 1861 and 1871. They all change their place of birth to Luton in 1871. I'm still looking. Going to bed soon. If I don't find them I'll check back tomorrow.

I've got someone who was never born on my tree. And he's a direct line. Anything's possible. Do you want to give us the names, dates, etc. Have you got them in 1871 and 1891?

How could you account for an entire family being missing from the 1881 census?? :-s
