Shirley, I appreciate the fact you offered assistance. I am determined to find out what became of my g-grandfather and will just keep looking. It took almost nine years to find death record of a gg-grandmother on another branch of family, so I'm not type to be easily discouraged. Again, thank you. Bel P.S. I typed a message to you earlier but it must have disappeared. Have been having problems all day but don't know if it site or my internet. B

Bel Unfortunaely I dont have any subscriptioms to Scottish sites but you say you have checked anyway. I would think that Grandpa 's dearth cert must have been registerd if he died in Scotland. Seems very odd ,as you say, for a 90tr old infirm man to have up sticks & emigrated, but suppose its still a possibility.# Sorry cant help any further

Thanks, Shirley, for pointing out lack of country in my query. Armadale is in West Lothian, Scotland. My g-grandfather was Joseph Mighton, born c 1839 in Maralin, Ireland (so we believe). He married Elizabeth Gamble (Gemmel) in 1863 and they had six children in Maralin before moving to Armadale about 1879 where three more children were born. It is so frustrating, we have found so many ancestors yet this one eludes us. Bel

wheres Armadale? is it in the States or the UK. If grandpa was still here aged 90 was it possible he was in an Old Folks Home And therefore not in the area you might have thought. Give us a name and we can do some looking

Several family members are trying to find record on my g-grandfather's death. He appears to have just dropped from the face of the earth around 1930. A thorough search had been made of the records in Edinburgh without success and we have checked many other sites for leads but found nothing. For some reason I think Grandpa Joe lived with my grandparents in Armadale, W.L. and my youngest uncle, born in 1925, remembered very early childhood visits with his grandfather. Several of my grandmother's siblings moved to the States in the early 1900s. One of her brothers visited Armadale in 1931 and I wonder if he might have taken his father back to the States at that time, though it seems unlikely someone would move a bedridden man nearing 90 to another country. We have managed to establish contact with grand and great-grandchildren of my grandmother's siblings in England and States but none of us know what became of her father. I would appreciate any suggestions you may have. Bel
