Member Since: June 2004 Posts: 3,470 Send Message	You may find details online if he retired to pension in the 1860s in ADM 29. He should have a continuous service record, which would show the various ships he served on, give a date of birth (not always accurate) and a physical description. Naval records are quite amazing. Provided you know a ship a man served on, you can usually follow his career back to its start and forwards to the day he left the service. You have to visit Kew to get the full story, but there is likely to be enough to keep you busy for several visits.

	Hi The National Archives have Naval records from 1873 online. If he was still in the service at this time they may still hold some records at Kew but they will not be available online. Suzanne

Member Since: January 2006 Posts: 117 Send Message	Can anyone please tell me how to go about getting or accessing the naval records for someone in1861, in tthe British Royal Navy. I have tried NRO but all I get up are Officers.
