looking for a link. here's a Tip. Please, please, please when you give the name of the individual you are trying to link, put his or her birth year afterwards. Many of us have a lot of the same name in our Trees. For example I have 6 John Freemans. So if someone asks me about John Freeman I have to send back a request as to which one. Whereas I only have one John Freeman (1752) in my Tree. Saves my time and yours.

I agree...good tip.....'Who did your Joe Bloggs marry?' isn't very helpful when you have two or three of them in your tree!!! Deb

Good tip there Jim, I have loads of the same names in my tree, when I contact any one I always give as much info as poss, so that the person I am contacting can cross ref with their's. Also I never use the standard requests as they are so baddly worded. Bev

And another massive nudge!!! This happens to me almost every time I get a query. To be fair, GR could make it easier.....if someone does a name search then they will have clicked alongside whichever John Brown they wanted from your tree.....GR could incorporate the year of birth into the pm heading. A recent PM asked if my Mary Buggins married Fred Smith. Which one, I replied, I have seven of them. Oh, any of them, was the reply! OC

I had one which simply said something like 'My grandad was Fred and his wife was Mary and his dad was George.' My only clue was the surname of the individual in the title.

Sadly I have emailed lots of people over the past few days trying to find a connection and put the year of birth, their parents and who they married but not one reply. Very frustrating. Never mind. Still hunting. Pam.

Pamela Judging by my most recent Hot Match list, GR are still trying to catch up with names entered in 2004 on this Site. I know this, because the person who has suddenly appeared as my Hot Match, entered her tree on here in 2004, never became a full member, and has since lost interest. OC

I sent 3 e mails to people with my latest batch of hot matches (4 pages) and all replied within two days, two were real matches, one on my tree and one on my husband's

Hello Old Crone, I wish I could lose interest!!!!!!! So frustrating though when you find a person, same name, same area and no reply. I am absolutely hooked and it is brilliant. All this for my aunt's 80th birthday in August. I only hope she likes it!!!!! Pam.
