I'm sure it is. I have a double wedding 1881 of two brothers, an old photo has also been found of a double wedding and am 99% sure it is them! Deb

When you say ''double wedding'' do you mean side by side?? (have you been watching too much Pride and Prejudice?).....surely more likely to have been one after the other? Still lovely though!! Merry

how lovely to have a photo of it you are lucky. Yes Merry I did imagine side by side would that not have happened then as my friend and her sister did that .

My cousins had a double wedding. 2 sisters married 2 brothers. They married side by side (in church) not following each other. 2 of my fathers aunts also had a double wedding side by side. Margaret

yes it seems Reggie its not unusual I must say I am surprised about that , dont know why , I suppose it made sense would have been cheaper

Valerie Yes - it was cheaper! One reception did two weddings, rellies only had to travel once (but had to buy two wedding presents, what a pain). I have two brothers and a sister marrying on the same day, one after the other. This was late 1700s, so I think it was for convenience as much as anything else, they were farmers, the Church was a fair way to go - lets get all the inconvenience out of the way in one fell swoop. thanks Old Crone you do make sense, and I suppose in those days it was probably more of a celebration as they didnt have a lot of fun in life .
