Hi I have my mother's birth certificate which tells me that my grandmother's name was Cecilia Florence Farrant (maiden name- her married name was Simmonds). However, I have recently found records of her and her husbands burial arrangements and they state that her name was Florence Simmonds. I am sure this is the correct name as I have searched everywhere for information concerning a Cecilia Farrant including the census and have drawn a blank. I am now completely confused and have no idea where to go as I suspect this may be the reason I have struggled. if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. regards, jackie

If you haven't got it already i would suggest looking for her marriage, starting your search with the name of her husband, when you find any matching surnames( Farrant and Simmonds) note the ref, then search for the ref with the brides surname. Result would be one ref number and two spouses names. Glen

her buriel records would be in her married name , wouldn't they? Maybe she never like Cecelia, and used her second name Did her husband die first? - who ever registered her death may not have even know her real fist name was Cecelia or am i misunderstanding you?

her husband (my grandfather) died second and yes the records are in her married name. It is possible that she preferred florence although the name stated on my mothers birth certificate is cecilia. thanks
