Christian name or Surname. If it's for census records then mis-spellings and soundex will be numerous. Roan(e), Rowan, Rowam, Roham, then you could stretch to Rona, Ronah etc . Glen

When I'm not sure of the spelling of a name, I try a search on the LDS site (using Smith or Jones as the last name) and get different spellings that way. http://www*familysearch.org/ (replace * with .)

Sorry i have been going on about this for a couple of days and i have ordered the birth certificate for Myra P Vincent now Whitehead born 1928 Cornwall. When she was born she was adopted by her grandmother. I have managed to find out er real mothers name which is Rone/Roan nobody knows the real spelling. On the birth certificate it said mothers maiden name is Vincent so i am searching for a Rone Vincent, i am unsure when she was born but everyone in the family was born in Cornwall so asuming she was born in Cornwall. Also talking to my mother in law she had a sister or cousin called Lenor if that is of any help. She said that her uncle was called Horace A Curtis. Merry searched for me on here and gave me the 1901 and 1891 census and there is only 1 female on there and that is Hilda M Curtis so could her real mum married one of the sons? All i know about the father is that he fled before she was born to Africa and she never met him. Sorry to keep asking for help. Thanks for everything i really appreciate your help Jen

Rhona or Rowenna - Rowenna is pronounced 'Rone' down here with a hardly hearable a on the end. And Rowenna is a popular girls name too, its the feminine version of the widespread surname Rowe. OC
