Starting with the guy born in Salford work backwards by getting marriage/birth certs to check for the fathers names and occupations and then pray your chap from Ireland came over to England before his death and can be found on an early census. |

I would start with the one in Salford.. Do you know who his father was? Do you have him on any census ? What info do you have on him? Dea |

Ah, Kathleen has updated her message to say the chap from Ireland was in England on the 1841. Brilliant. Then it really is just a case of buying this Salford chaps marriage cert to find out who his dad was (if you dont know already) and working your way back until you find the connection. William the youngers birth certificate will give his fathers name and that of his mother so then you can buy their marriage certificate which will give the father of the grooms name and occupation and possibly an address which may tie in with the Irish William. (There may be even a further generation back to the Irish chap as there is what 60 odd years between the two?) If you have found William the younger on the census when he is a child, you could probably skip some stages by seeing his parents names and finding/buying a marriage cert for them. Shame its such a common name. What is your earliest sighting of him? |
