At lang last I have 'found' where my granddad came from. if you remember I could not find a John Maudesley prior ot 1901, well, I followed the route of his stepfathers name and discovered that granddads mother was a mary Roberts. Oh dear, what pain and suffering that caused me, was this mary my g.grandmother??? I found, with the help of you great people on this site, her second marriage so I sent for the certificate, guess what, yep, her single name was, Mawdsley. BINGO.....I have found what I think is her birth and where she was in the 1851 and 61 census, but am unable to find her on the 1871 census. I think she may have been married to her first husband then. Do not know his christian name, but he was Mr. Roberts. there is possible a daughter with them called mary Ellen. So.....Mary Roberts, nee Mawdsley 1850...her husband Mr. Roberts, Mary Ellen c1871 They were living in Lancashire, in the Liverpool area and Mary was born in Kirkby, Lancs. Can fresh pair of eyes take a lok for me as this side of my family is giving me the pip. lol lol Kathlyn
