I was typing away on my brand new faultless computer when up popped a microsoft thingy, asking me if I wanted it to ignore repeated keystrokes - we strongly recommend this, it said. I clicked OK, carried on - except - nothing was appearing on the screen as I typed. Panic panic, what did I do? I seem to have reversed it by sheer good luck but I have aged centuries! OC

When i started out at this 'pooter lark - which isnt actually very long ago, not with any confidence anyway- I had a strange thing keep happening- as i realised i'd made an error I'd go back to perhaps insert a letter and then realise the machine had gobbled up the next letter somehow! This went on and on, and it got to the point that if i had mis-spelled a word, i wouldnt go back and correct it, cos everything after it would get eaten up. Long while before I realised I was catching the 'Insert' key on my way past! We oldies are not really built for this techno stuff , are we? Jess

Jess Well I'm older than you by miles, and I CERTAINLY am not! I have noticed that this new keyboard is extremely sensitive, I barely have to brush the keys, sometimes with the side of my finger and I am having to correct typos all the time - very annoying as I considered myself an accurate typist. You must have learnt on an old typewriter like me OC, where you had to hit the keys with a hammer to get them to type black.....especially when the ribbon was running out. LOL Those were the days.... Jean

Yes, and your fingers would disappear in the gaps between the keys, causing pain and distress, not to mention typos! My real bug is that I'm always hitting the caps lock key when I want the tab key and vice versa. Or you put your fingers on the home keys - but slightly misaligned so instead of typing this you get pt upi [iy upit ogomhrtd pm yjr jp,r[ lrud niy d;ohjy;u ,ods;ohmrf dp omdyrsf pg yu[omh yjod upi hry!!!

Jess, thank you, I have been trying to work out why that kept happening to me. It does not help that I use a French keyboard but now I Know how to stop it. Many Thanks Jill xx :)
