I've looked and looked and tried checking pages on either side to try to decipher the letters, but I still can't make it out. My best guess is something like ' Louffeter ', but I'm sure that can't be right. I notice that there are a lot of people whose occupation looks like Cottn Weaver or Cottn Winder. Were there textile mills in this area? If so, perhaps you could try checking related occupations and see if any of them might match. Sorry not to be of more help - Tim |

Further to above, In 1848 on daughter Rachel's marriage certificate occupation is listed as painter. Jack of all trades? Thanks for your ideas all. HK |
