My GGrandfather came to England somewhere between 1901 and 1904. He was born in Poland and later went on to New York. On the ships list to NY he is shown as being British. Does anyone know how easy it is to find his naturalisation records? I am presuming I would have to visit Kew for this. Thanks, Estelle |

Hi Joy, yes, I found him on Ellis Island and also on a list on Ancestry. I am 99.9% sure it is him. I would love to find out more and if he was made a British citizen I guess I could trace that. Thanks for replying! Estelle :o) |

I've not played with naturalisation papers myself, but this is the relevant research guide: http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/catalogue/RdLeaflet.asp?sLeafletID=242 and it looks if you go to the home page of the national archives and type the name you are interested in, the search engine should bring up the reference. (Bearing in mind possible spelling variances) If you'd like to come out to play with some of us, I've a trip to Kew planned on August 5th. |
