Just browsing in 1871and found a family of PROMs. The name really looks like that on the image, but as there is only one child in the FreeBMD database born around that time with the very unusual name - Ernest Pedro ..., I suspect that he is really: Name: Ernest Pedro Thorn Year of Registration: 1859 Quarter of Registration: Apr-May-Jun District: Okehampton County: Devon Volume: 5b Page: 361 That also ties in with a another child. Just goes to show! Christine

On the other hand, I have an Eliza Thorne who is really Eliza Moore. I only know because she's staying with her married sister Emma Matthews (or, as the enumerator preferred to record it, Marthers).

Didn't someone say that the enumerators made notes and wrote them up afterwards? Perhaps they couldn't read their own writing! Christine
