Raymond There is a BAPTISM on this date for James Quayle, son of Phillip Quayle and Mary Corkhill, on the IGI - extracted record. Although not impossible, its unlikely that he was baptised the day he was born - where did you get your info from? OC

This is what Genuki says about the IoM civil registration: Civil Registration Civil registration of marriages started in 1849, of births and deaths in 1878. The records are at the General Registry, Finch Road, Douglas, Isle of Man. So, that's after 1840. Where did you get the ref? Merry

Hi Raymond, I thought civil registration for births wasn't required until 1878 for the Isle of Man. Rose

I recently sent off for a Birth Certificate for James Quayle b12 Jan 1840 Maughold Isle of Man, Quoting Yr 1840 District Isle of Man Vol 10b P399, which I thought was correct. I have now been informed by Email no trace of the abovementioned at ref quoted. can someone please help and tell me the correct one please,or tell me how to find it. I have his 1841 census record.
