I don't think Dea has misread - I was talking to a nurse at the hospital yesterday, and she said it had been 42 degrees in one part of her garden. It was certainly 37 here today. Mandy :) |

You should call the MET office then. You may have a new record, as the hottest day on record since records began was 10th August 2003 at 38.1C |

No wonder you're a grumpy old woman!¬!! Dea, I believe you , I do . I do!! It was 44 when we were in Rome. Getting temperatures wrong reminds me of when Hubby went on business trip to USA....Was invited for a skiing weekend , the temperature was -8 degrees, which he thought was fine as we have that regularly in the alps here when we ski. He wondered why everyone was wrapped up to such a degree, he thought they were a bit OTT, until he got on the Skilift and realised they were talking farenheit!!, poor b****r nearly froze to death. Our garden thermometer and its not out in the direct sun, was showing 40 degrees. I could feel the york stone slabs burning the bottom of my sandals as I walked over them to the grass. I reckon we could have genuinely fried eggs on those stones today. |
