Hi I managed to trace ym 2xggrandfather John Benjamin Longuet to his marriage in 1824, and I have a copy of the entry. I also have a copy of his death certificate dated 1859, giving his age as 57. I have been unable to find any registration of his birth or baptism and in consequence am unable to trace his parents, Any suggestions as to my next course of action would be greatly appreciated

Someone gave me the heads up on Parish Record site on Ancestry. It has all the BMD up to 1837

Have you tried the IGI? And whilst Ancestry does have some parish records, it by no means has them all. Sam x

Hi Bert I believe Longuet is a French surname, could he possibly have been born in France.Is his fathers first name from the marriage certificate French ? Eileen
