As I said in my first reply, change supplier, the one I am with is £139 cheaper than BG, so it said in Mirror. Still cheaper than 2 £45 rebates per year. |

Thanks for letting us know, Linda. Just phoned and will get £45 in November and another £45 in February for gas and electricity. If we'd known we could have claimed last year too! Sandy |

Have you read report in the Mirror this morning (wed). BG is most expensive Gas & Electric supplier, so I say change supplier and you will save more than the £60 you will get from BG rebates |

It has nothing to do with the government winter fuel allowance. Gas board did this scheme last year and I didn't find out until near the deadline so put a message on here so as many as possible could claim. (think I cost them thousands) If you got it last year you should get a letter saying you will receive it this winter too, but just in case letters are not received or if you are a NEW claimant posted details again and want you all to spread the word! Don't forget to have your account number to hand when you phone. Linda x |

Thanks for that info Linda. They kept that very quiet. I certainly didn`t receive any notification last year and I could have claimed. I will get on to them now. Regards Sylvia. |

For those of you that claimed this last winter there is a new scheme offering a bigger rebate you should receive details in the post but just in case and for new claimants... British Gas users will receive a £60 rebate in the form of two separate credits one on your last bill for this year and the other on the first bill for 2007. If you also buy your electricity from them you will receive a further £30 in two credits in the same way as for gas. If you haven’t claimed before do so now by ringing the Winter Rebate Scheme on 0845 601 2006 you need to be in receipt of one of the following benefits It's for British (or Scottish) Gas customers only and you have to be on one of the following benefits: Vulnerable Customer - Eligible Benefits • Disability living allowance • Pension Credit • Attendance allowance • War disablement pension which includes either a mobility supplement or constant attendance allowance • Disablement pension which includes constant attendance allowance • Child tax credit where the relevant income is £14,600 or less • Working tax credit where the relevant income is £14,600 or less • Council tax benefit • Housing benefit • Income-based job seekers allowance • Income support • Carers Allowance • Severe Disability allowance If you didn't apply last year do so NOW. Good luck everyone and pass the word round. Linda x |
