After all the complaints about hotmatches Some of it from me I want to say a big thankyou. I had a hotmatch for an ancestor of mine and as I had just found a copy of his father's will on the national archive site I wrote and offered the match a copy. Yesterday I had an E.mail to say thankyou and he has also given me scans of a photo of one of the man's sons who died in 1875 and miniture paintings of his wife and father in law born 1747. I never thought I would know what any of my earlier ancestors would look like. |

Lucky you!!!! Well done! What letter of the alphabet did the match surname begin with? (yes, it's a leading, biased question!!!! lol) Merry |

I had a grandfather with a lot of foresight Francis Wilton chose as his wife Louise Blacker not only did they have a long and happy marriage and three children including my father it also meant that I could have a hotmatch to Samuel Palmer Blacker and his son George Frederick Blacker and get minature pictures of George and Betty Bush. B******* marvellous Merry. |

Ooooh!!! Beginning with ''Bl'' then! Only a few more months before I will get some of those! Maybe if I deleted some of my Allens and Adams???? Sorry, I'm only teasing! I think the best thing in the world is getting photos of people who you have only ever imagined before! Lovely!!! Merry |

I have a fairly extensive tree on here, not all of it by any means, but loads of different names. So why do I only get hot matches for the name of Bradley. Am I missing something here, How do you see other names? Linda |

Linda, They start with A, and each time you get a new batch of matches they start with A again, but omitting any matches they have given you already, so EVENTUALLY you will get only a few A's and mostly B's, then a few A's and B's and mostly C's and so on. If you are idiot, like me, you will then upload a new gedcom to the site, only to find GR begins again with your Hot Matches!!!! Merry |

You also have a problem if you have common names like Brown or in my case Cox at the beginning of your tree. As names are porbably being added at a rate of more than a hundred a fortnight. Also if you share imformation with anyone the names come back as hotmatches and if you have a very enthusiastic Brown with lots of names on his tree who uploads his gedcom every couple of weeks.you are in trouble. But it is great when they do work. p.s. If you add a graphics character after a name it defeats the system. |
