Scottish Baptisms : Does anyone know why

Does anyone have a clue as to why my Scottish ancestors' daughters baptisms are on the IGI but none of their sons although they lived at the same addresses. Where on earth did they have their sons baptised. Jean x.

No idea myself but there was mention of this on the Rotation of IGI records thread.

Thanks Gwyneth... I thought I saw a similar thread a little while ago which inferred that the IGI did not rotate their records but periodically updated them.

Gillian.. Thought it was just my family. LOL. I can only assume that the boys were baptised at the same Church in Scotland but for some reason are not showing on the IGI. If it had only been 1 family I might have thought they'd been overlooked but it is several branches over seversl years. Jean x.

Well, it is because some batches on the IGI are girls only or boys only, but as for why on earth anybody decided that was a good way to batch up baptisms for transcription, I have no idea! Let's hope they eventually transcribe the missing ones! Kate.
