Hello, I am researching an ancestor who was working as a surgeon in Sunderland in the 1830's-1860's. Can any one recommend any museums to visit or contact to get more of an idea of what this work was like then? It would seem he studied in London, possibly at Guys ot St Thomas's Hospital Thanks in advance

www.thackraymuseum.org This is a medical museum in Leeds, I've never been, but heard good reports from others who have. I don't know what is on the website but it might give you some ideas and contacts. Jenny :-)

The Royal College of Surgeons website should give you plenty.
