Angela - you are spot on. The Google confirmed the address and the name of Mrs. E Hawkins as the head. I think it is a boarding house in the holiday, or possibly a convalescent sense, but still can't read her occupation. will see if there are any trade directories online that might help! Many thanks - Trina |

seems to be called ( something) mansions- possibly a tenament type building, rather than an institution if you Google Tormoham & mansions , and lookat the second (genuki) entry down, I know its earlier, but its interesting and you might work out what they were doing there |

Unexpectedly I have found my ancestors in some kind of institution in Tormohan Devon. They actually live in Wrexham. The husband, Frank Meredith Jones (leather manufacturor) is still there.Trouble is, I can't read it very well and am wondering if it is a hospital of some kind? If anyone has access to the 1901 census, I would be very grateful if they could translate, or give me their opinion what might be going on here! Especially if you have any other local knowledge of this place. Clara M Jones (38) married, born Chester, boarder and Gladys M Jones (18) born Wrexham Wales, boarder. I think it says Torquay as the town. Is that enough to find it? The reference is RG 13/2058 Hope you are all enjoying the heat! Best wishes Trina |
